Comments Thread For: Junto Nakatani retains title with third stoppage win of 2024

Junto Nakatani, one of the best fighters in the world, retained his WBC bantamweight crown and stayed on course for possibly the biggest fight in Japanese history, against Naoya Inoue, with a sixth-round stoppage victory of Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana.

Chitpattana is from Thailand, not the Philippines. Get some professionalism, moron!

Gotta give them credit that they spelled his name correctly tho. I mean just a month ago, they put up an article for the Inoue-Doheny weigh-ins and spelled Takei and Sasaki wrong (Takai and Sisaki) and didn't bother fixing it either.
Naoya Inoue and TJ Doheny both made weight ahead of tomorrow’s fight for Inoue’s undisputed junior featherweight crown. They cordially shook hands after the

They have come a long way to get the name of the challenger right, when they were incapable of getting the name of a defending champion that is FIVE letters long correct. /s

I'm not willing to say that just yet (people gotta remember, Naoya Inoue at 118 destroyed opponents even more ruthlessly than Nakatani), but due to his physical attributes Nakatani is more likely to be able to fight at a heavier weight than Inoue when both their careers are over. However given current skills, age, experience and competition, If they were to fight next year 2025 at 122 I'd say Inoue will still win.

In terms of passing the baton, it would be quite dramatic if next year 2nd half Inoue (age 32) and Nakatani (age 27) fight at 122, then rematch at 126 as the undisputed 126 Inoue (age 35) vs the undisputed 122 Nakatani (age 30) for possibly his final fight of his career?

Of course I certainly won't be looking forward to Inoue losing and I think he'll still go undisputed, but if it is going to happen given the age difference I feel like it will be Nakatani.

Junto hit him so hard that Chitpattana shltabanana. It seemed like Nakatani was sleepwalking for 6rounds then woke up ,saw that he was actually in a fight and handled his business. I think that Naoya Inoue stops Nakatani if they fight.
